Dear Manny: (aka the Post-Vegas Post)

Last week you asked me about Vegas…and sought advice as to what to do during your trip there. Being the slacker that I am I put off replying…but finally here it is- nearly a week later!

So this time I was in Vegas I:

Visted the Silverton Casino- mostly for the Bass Pro Shop…and ended up getting my father’s day present, my brother’s birthday present and both of their christmas presents there …totally for $90.00. It is huge…seriously this store is the size of a small town mall. Now I just have to worry that my dad will go to Vegas just to go to this store. This casino is nice. Although off strip and a bit out of the way. There is a cool bar there where every hour on the hour Mermaids swim through this large aquatic tank to music. There are also some OCC bikes especially made for the silverton on display there.

Visited The Wynn-You know…after all the hype I heard about the Wynn being so opulent I wasn’t impressed with the inside of the Wynn. I don’t know what I expected but I was disappointed. The shops remind me of the upper end shops in South Coast Plaza. There is a Ferrari/Maserati dealership right as you walk into the Wynn from the self park parking garage (which fills up fast- so go early or shuttle/cab/walk)- but you have to pay $10.00 to go in (I think you get a baseball hat if you pay to go in). You can see the cars from the adjoining giftshop- which is filled with overpriced memorabilia. There is an art gallery…but I can’t compare it to the ones at the Bellagio or Venetian because I didn’t go in (tickets are $14.00 a person if you wanted to know). The outside of the Wynn- with the waterfalls is very very nice though. And they have a bitchin’ billboard out front. I have heard wonderful wonderful things about the show at the Wynn called Le Reve- but it is expensive ($95 a ticket) so I didn’t go.

Visited THE DISTRICT at Green Valley Ranch– I love the Green Valley Ranch. They have a great Buffet if you are ever there. Also- the shops at the District are eclectic and cool. And they have an ELEPHANT BAR which I love to eat at…but they are usually busy so make reservations if you want to go or prepare to wait. They are also also off strip located in Henderson.

I went to THE FASHION SHOW: I love this mall. I love the underground parking, I love the goofy spaceship looking thing coming out of the front…and they have a sketcher’s store…and a paul frank store…and an apple store…and a saks. And lots of other stores including two starbucks. You can’t go wrong at the fashion show.

Now I also spent quality friend time with BFM which was the whole point of the trip. And yes I had a blast…but we are the kind of friends who can make almost anything fun so…there you have it.

Now you wanted to talk shows…
I have heard WE WILL ROCK YOU is great. It is located at PARIS and I want to try to go next time. We will see if this happens though. Looks like they are dark on Thursdays. Blue Man is something I have also wanted to see but never had the chance…I believe Blue Man is dark on Wednesdays.

Buffets:I meantioned the one at Green Valley Ranch, I also like the one at The Monte Carlo. I have heard great things about the ones at THE PALMS and THE RIO but have not had a chance to check them out yet.

Of course I don’t know how long you plan to be there Manny…or what kinds of things you like to do…but if you have any questions…let me know.

An elephant bar? Does that mean it’s big? You eat with elephants? Do you eat the elephants? What? Huh?

There- just for you I added a link :D

It’s a restaurant…but no elephants on the menu as far as I can see :D

I’ll be going to Vegas in August, this will be my 5th time :) Love it there, my favorite place to visit.

This time around I’m staying at the Mirage. Before it was Bally, Paris, Monte Carlo and NY NY.

    That place looks cool!

Thanks Amy! I watched We Will Rock You, it fucking ROCKED! My boss almost got in a fight with someone but that’s ok. You need to sit about ten rows back and in the center. So amazing.

As for food, it’s the only thing I do there is eat. Except for the booze, gambling and hookers well nevermind. There is a great steak house at the Venetian called Del Monacos. Right next to it is a Chinese restaurant that is great too. For buffets I love the Belagio. SOOO YUMMY! If you want to go off strip there is Makinos, all you can eat sea food and sushi!

MAN I CAN’T WAIT TO GO NOW!
