What is it witht he media covering NASCAR this week? Are they all purposely trying to piss me off?
This article might actually be plausible…if you know, Tony Stewart had actually announced that he will be leaving JGR. If Greg Biffle is indeed looking to move over to JGR, wouldn’t it be more plausible that he is looking to jump into the fourth car that is rumored to be in the stables, then replacing a driver (Stewart) who said he is looking at other offers but didn’t say he would jump? I mean come on, I am “just a fan” but even I know that the media shouldn’t be jumping to conclusions. Sure it’s fun to speculate where drivers will be going- but in my opinion it’s just too early to tell. And if JD Gibbs has said they do NOT give out information on driver negotiations…why even bother to speculate if Carl Edwards was being talked too by JGR., let alone Greg Biffle. Arg.

There’s been the same sort of speculation going on with Bobby Labonte. Bobby said something to the affect (effect?): “If you don’t hear it from my lips, assume it’s a rumor.”

Until Tony stands up and says “I am leaving Joe Gibbs Racing” then everything is just rumor, speculation and assumptions.

Jenna Fryer hasn’t been near a race track in years, yet she considers herself a NASCAR analyst. She is so far out of the loop that she gets her “facts” from the Thats Racin’ dot com Auto Racing Forums and Yahoo Answers.
She obviously hasn’t realized that most NASCAR journalists have backed away from the rumor that Smoke will be leaving Gibbs before the end of 2009.

Bobby’s staying at PE. Got a new contract.
Tony’s leaving Gibbs after this season, has already agreed to purchase majority interest in HAAS and will be benefiting from the alliance HMS has with HAAS in the area of engines & development. Also, Martin Truex will be joining Tony’s new company. Ain’t official yet, but it’s a done deal.
Just read between the lines, Tony earlier put feelers out there for an equity stake at Gibbs, Joe told him nothing’s for sale. His time at Gibbs will soon be history.

I will be really surprised if Tony leaves Gibbs after this season considering that JD has said they have no plans to let tony out of his contract early.

Gibbs won’t let Tony walk out early … and, why should they? As for 2010, that’s anyone’s guess, but Biffle will already be under a new contract by then, and if Tony doesn’t resign with JGR at that point, they’ll probably start looking at bringing up Joey Logano.
