3- A Giveaway

Posted by Amy in General

What does the number 3 mean to you? Is it just more than two and less than four? For NASCAR fans, 3 is a number synonymous with a legend.  Even as a NASCAR fan it can sometimes be hard to comprehend exactly what Dale Earnhardt was to people.

I was given the opportunity to share with my readers a DVD entitled DALE EARNHARDT – 10 Greatest Wins.  This is a 5 dvd set- containing highlights from 10 of Dale Earnhardt’s greatest victories. The races span from 1984-2000 and include on of my favorite wins ever his victory over Bobby Labonte by .006 seconds at Atlanta Motorspeedway.  I was given two copies. Originally I was going to do what I did last time open one and keep for myself to review and then give the other away. However this time I think I will give both copies away.  The DVDs are in a high quality metal jacket- it’s a very nice set indeed.

Someone- through a comment on this blog- suggested I read the book St. Dale by Sharyn McCrumb- which is interesting….I am about three quarters of the way done with it. It centers around a bus load of people who are on the first ever Dale Earnhardt Tour paying hommage a to the fallen champion a little over a year after his death. Its a very interesting read-where NASCAR plays a signifigant part of the storyline- however does not dominate the story.  I think  So I am going to give one copy of this book away as well.

So to recap- three prizes are available. Two copies of the Dale DVD and one copy of the paperback of St. Dale. How do you win? Easy- just leave a comment on this post. Three winners will be picked at random.  Winners will be contacted and must be willing to provide mailing address.  The contest runs from the day this is posted to noon (pacific time) on November 26th, 2008.  Good luck!

Count me in, please!! I love Dale Sr. I’m a Harvick fan now, I just stuck with the car after Sr died. Dale Sr was the greatest personality the sport has ever seen.. You can argue best driver, some will say Gordon, but he has the personality of a chair. Some will say Petty, but I don’t consider that modern era. Dale Sr would knock anybody out of the way to win…awesome.

I have that book St Dale. One of my coworkers who knows how much I am obsessed with NASCAR suggested I read it. I haven’t had a chance to read it yet. I am in the middle of one book that has sucked me in. I think that one will be the next one I read.

People think it’s weird that I am a fan of Dale Sr and not his son. I guess I like Dale Sr’s bravado. I guess that’s why I like Tony. He says it like it is and doesn’t care what others think.

Well….I guess I’ll join in as well. :) I wasn’t into NASCAR when Dale Sr was driving, but I remember hearing about his death. I’d like to be able to check out something from the past. :)

I’ll throw my hat in the ring. A family friend was a big NASCAR fan when I was in high school/college and I got to be familiar with some of the drivers. I fell out of touch with NASCAR but was shocked when, years later, I picked up a magazine with an article about Dale Sr.’s death.

Plus, I’ve never won anything online before. ;-)

  • Don’t count this as an entry, as I really don’t care all that much about NASCAR. But I wanted to tell you about something that happened to me on Saturday.

If you take a trip over to my blog, you’ll see that Susan and I have been looking for a sofa for about a year. On Saturday, I stopped into one of those “rent to own” stores we have in town, just to see if they had anything they might sell outright. The guy mentioned they had a “#3 sofa” they could let me have for a great price: $250. Was I interested? Sure! What does it look like? “Well, it’s a very dark blue, almost black,” the guy says. “And, of course, it’s got a great big #3 on it.” I thought he was talking about the model #! Turns out, it was a NASCAR model sofa. I decided Susan wouldn’t be too pleased if I brought home a race car sofa with a big #3 across the back! (Side note: the couch was not actually in their showroom, so I didn’t actually see it until just now!)
