It’s Bristol Baby- seems to the be the Bristol race’s motto doesn’t it? It’s fitting I suppose. I actually like watching the short tracks at Bristol and Martinsville- despite a text I may or may not have shot Misty after Tony’s lap 9 crash that said I HATE SHORT TRACKS. I don’t actually- I love them. I do hate them when my driver blows a tire and ends up 36 laps down for a majority of the race…but I still like watching the racing at my beloved short tracks. I was watching the race and listening to his scanner on my NASCAR 13 mobile ap. Unfortunately the scanner was about 4 laps behind the TV so I saw it before I heard Bob warn Tony his tire was going down. I was hoping he’d make it to pit road but my eyes were telling me that wasn’t going to happen unfortunately.
They ended up with a busted brake line courtesy of the blown tire which only added insult to injury and caused them to have have to stay in the pits longer to fix. DESPITE a bump into the wall and coming back onto the track in 41st position by the time they got back out- the whole team soldiered on and even Tony was in a decent mood considering. At one point an ailing Steve Addington even told Tony not to joke with him because making him laugh hurt (Steve was reportedly suffering from the flu). Judging by the team radio they were still in good spirits through the race despite bad luck…which made me a little less grumpy- but not much. Pure determination and some attrition helped move Tony up to a 31st place finish…dropping him to 24th in the points standings…which makes the points watcher in me twitchy. Race winner was Kasey Kahne.
Needless to say- I was a pretty grumpy little Tony Stewart fan on Sunday. But then I saw this LOL Race Pics and it made me laugh:
The reason this was funny to me? Because the day before I had a nail in my tire and said the same thing in my best dramatic Geico Gecko voice because what else could I do but take it to America’s tire to be fixed (which I did and KUDOS to America’s tire for allowing me to because I walked in at 4:55 thinking they closed at 6:00 when really they closed at 5:00 on Saturday- but they took me anyway and got me all fixed up). It would have been even funnier if I had run into America’s Tire and did the whole dramatic Geico Gecko voice…but I chickened out.
Gratuitous Tony Stewart Picture:
Uh…what is going on here?
Next Week we are California Dreamin’ at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA.
