I wasn’t home for Chase Race 3- I was still off in Vegas where I went for the truck race (post about that coming tomorrow hopefully) and to visit Misty (and her adorable little doxie puppy).  I had forgotten how fun it is to watch a race with her. We were actually having lunch during the last part of the race and were “watching” using twitter and the NASCAR Mobile 13 ap.  She was in a roar because Jeff Gordon (her driver) was right there in the thick of it all…I remember that feeling. So while she monitor twitter, I sat there with the mobile ap open reading out intervals to her. I know what she was thinking. Please don’t let my driver fall any further back. Please let my driver pick up one more, two more, three more positions. I have been there. In 2011 I thought I was going to need to carry a bottle of Maalox with me for the Chase. I remember sitting on the deck of the media center in Phoenix watching each lap pass by one after the other.

Mark Martin gets ready in Dover

Team 14 unfortunately did not have a great Dover. Seems the car’s handling was not well- it was tight. For a majority of the race- and while the team did work on it with each pit stop- it was just not enough and they quickly went a lap down.

“At the end there, we weren’t too bad and actually kept up with some pretty decent cars,” said Martin, a four-time Sprint Cup winner at Dover. “I don’t know why, but it just takes us forever to get going. But I can’t thank this entire team enough for all of their hard work and just the heart and soul they put into this deal. It means a lot.”- Stewart Haas Racing Team report.

Race winner was Jimmie Johnson. Matt Kenseth is still the current leader in the points- but Jimmie Johnson closed the gap on him and is only -8 points behind him. Kyle Busch remains in 3rd only 12 points behind.  Kevin Harvick and Jeff Gordon are both tied for 4th 39 points behind the leader.

Notes about Dover:

1. Here is a article about Tony from Dover weekend where he talks about therapy and his recovery if you haven’t read it.

2. Have you seen the Comcast Xfinity commercial with Tony? They have been playing that sucker here a lot. What I find ironic about that is that we just switched our internet to Xfinity (not because of the commercial- because it’s way faster than our old dsl).  The router in Tony’s car is our router. Funny.
