I am going to be the first to admit I was a little distracted during the race in Texas for multiple reasons but mainly I had been running around on Saturday trying to get all the stuff I needed done and taken care of because I am heading off for Phoenix Wednesday so during commercials I was doing exciting things like laundry.

And wouldn’t you know it the one day that I decide to forgo listening to the scanner that the 14 has a fairly decent run!  The team qualified 33rd- but slowly and steadily worked their way through the field to 11th. According to the team report- the team found something that fit Mark Martin’s driving style (the car was wicked loose throughout practices) during the last 15 minutes of final practice. It’s obviously worked.  I still hold out hope that Mark can bring the 14 into Victory Lane for Tony Stewart but time is starting to wind down…there are only two chances left.

I was really sad that Jeff Gordon suffered a tire failure that pretty much ruined his chase bid.  That team worked so damn hard to make the most of that 13th spot- it was a pity that it was ruined by tire issues.

That being said, after pulling off the win at Texas I feel it’s pretty much the 48 team’s championship to lose at this point.  He pulled into the lead and is 7 points ahead of second place Matt Kenseth. Third place Kevin Harvick is 40 points behind the leader.  Kyle Busch and Dale Earnhardt Jr round out the top five in points.

Stewart-Haas’s only chase contender Ryan Newman is currently 12th in points standings

My only note about the race in Texas:

1. Texas Motor Speedway had Bacon Cotton Candy. Um no. I LOVE cotton candy. Ask Misty- if I am anywhere near cotton candy I must have.  Bacon? That just ruins my sugary confection. If you take anything away from this point its GO TONY GO in 2014 but if you take a second thing away from this post? It’s this:  For the love of Pete world- please stop baconizing every damn thing. Thank you- AMY

I present to you not one but TWO Gratuitous Tony Stewart pictures this week:
