First the Fill-in #88

1. If I was to walk into your life, would you please walk softly?

2. Catch a bright star and place it in your pocket…but it might burn a hole in your jeans.

3. And you can send me to the moon.

4. Sorry I am crying but I’m dealing with a memory that never forgets.

5. I’m the innocent bystander / Somehow I got stuck in the catch fence.

6. What’s keeping us apart isn’t selfishness, it’s pure unadulterated hatred.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to GOING HOME AND CRASHING, tomorrow my plans include Sleeping and Richmond if it doesn’t rain and Sunday, I want to SLEEP!

And now My SELF MI-5:

I was inspired by an article in SELF magazine for this week’s MI-5.  The article was called “Create Your Happy-Life List” and this list is derived from the little workbook box in the article.  That box gave room for four answers in each of six boxes. I only used four of the boxes and added my own question to the list.  Feel free to give as many or as few answers to each question as you like.

1. Every day I would like to: (examples given were: get my heart rate up, sleep for 15 more minutes, be loving to my partner) wake up refreshed, express my creativity and read (for pleasure) for at least 30 minutes.

2. Every week, I would like to: (examples given were: cook a meal from scratch, pamper myself, spend time alone) Spend quality time with my nephew while he is young and growing, expand my cooking, and keep from getting behind in my laundry because its one of the things I hate to do the most.

3. Before next year, I would like to: (examples given were: clean out my closets, take a class, track my spending, plant an herb garden) write a book, take an awesome picture, completely clean out my closets and donate all the stuff I don’t use anymore to goodwill.

4. Before I die, I would like to: (examples given were: start a business, try skydiving, go skinny-dipping, make a difference in the world) drive across the united states in an obnoxiously big RV with just my best friend, my dog and no agenda.

5: How likely do you think you will be to complete any of these goals? Which will be the easiest? Which will be the hardest? Most of mine are pretty doable…and some of them I already do.  The hardest one would be the driving across the united states one. Sure sounds like fun though.

My August Flickr favorites are a little late because I was at the California Motor Speedway getting my race on. I promise I will blog about it- but I am still working on uploading the 400-plus pictures I took. Plus I am also waiting for my cd with my friends pictures on it to arrive :) So yey for LOTS of pictures!!

Anyway here are my Flickr favorites.  There seems to be alot of yellow in the pictures I liked this month for some reason. As always click on the big picture to be taking to the original flickr picture so you can check out the actual photographers of these gorgeous pictures.

Well hello there! Did you miss me? Come on…we both know you did. Anyway I had a GREAT time at the race in Fontana. I have lots of pictures and stories to share regarding that…but it will take me a bit to get that all going for you so you will have to be patient there.  I did have lots of fun and ended up sunburned before I even found the speedway (another story).

Anyways Here is J.’s Back To Skool MI-5:

1. Think back to the soundtrack of your high school years – what were you listening to then? I was very into the “hair” bands. Bon Jovi, Poison, Slaughter, Motley, ‘tallica…you get the drift.

2. It’s an average Thursday night– what’s on TV? I wasn’t too big on tv.

3. What was playing at the local Bijou then? We didn’t have one. We still don’t best to my knowledge.

4. What character from “The Breakfast Club” best described you during high school: Judd HircshNelson, the brooding rebel without a cause?  Molly Ringwald’s pampered princess?  Ally Sheedy’s freak in need of a bottle of Head & Shoulders?  Emilio Estevez’s varsity jacketed jock?  Or Anthony Michael Hall’s dweeby dork?  I was a cross between Ally Sheedy and Anthony Michael Hall. Smart but dweeby dork who was a freak that stood mostly on the outside and looked in.

5. Does looking back at your junior & senior high class pictures cause you to cringe, wondering why nobody stopped you from walking out into public looking like that?  Why?  Mullet?  Poodle perm? Urg…when I wa s a sophomore I had the perm from hell.

And Friday’s Fill-in:

1. When I’m sick I’m a pain in the ass.

2. When I take a walk, I think about whatever is bothering me at the time.

3. Money can’t buy happiness but it can sure make you comfortable.

4. Cotton makes me think of underwear and leather makes me think of cars.

5. The strangest person/character I’ve had lewd thoughts about was probably from a book.

6. My favorite color these days is purple because it’s my favoritest color.

7. And as for the weekend, friday I went to Qualifying for the Pepsi 500, Saturday I went on a tour of the Queen Mary in Long Beach and Sunday I was at the Pepsi 500!

Ok…so now you can see why I don’t do my own layouts…because that logo up there was my idea of a great thing. I suck at graphic design. Sorry for the lack of postings…I have been just so overwhelmed at work that by the time I get home I want to stick my foot through a computer and throw phones out windows. Ok not really but I don’t want to sit down and blog either.

So I am getting up at way before the crack of dawn tomorrow to drive several hours to stand in line for several hours.  Its a long boring story I will tell you when I get back. I may try to update you all on Twitter (see right side bar)…but it is a vacation so don’t hold me to it.  See ya all after Labor day. I am taking at least one camera so expect lots of pictures :)

Stick A Fork In Me

Posted by Amy in General - (2 Comments)

I am so done.  It has been the busiest day at work. I have talked so much I am hoarse. I am completely and totally exhausted (partially due to stress- partially due to the fact I slept like crap last night). I just want to go home and crawl in bed for like…a year. I won’t want to talk to anyone or look at anyone…just sleep. I probably won’t because I have too much to get done tonight.

One thing about doing call center work during peak season? By the time I get home…I don’t even want to hear a phone ring. Seriously if I do? I might just throw the damn thing. I figure it will be crazy like this through Septemeber 5th…then it will slowly setting into a dull roar.

Can I reiterate how excited I am to be leaving on Thursday?

Bristol2

Well I said I was going to watch Bristol through my fingers and that is what I did. It was a pretty good race.  There is always bumping and grinding at Bristol.  Team Home Depot had to start from 28th but quickly worked their way up the field. Tony didn’t seem to have too much complaints about his car.  He didn’t seem to have much to complain about anything really- except for the contact he had with Jeff Gordon on lap 233 after which crew chief Zipadelli reminded him to calm down. Stewart called Gordon a “primadonna” and NASCAR warned the Stewart for aggressive driving for the contact.  Unfortunately as a result of the contact with Gordon- the next pit stop took longer as the crew took time to pull out a bent in fender to protect the fresh rubber.

The best contact of the night happened post race however when Kyle Busch made contact with race winner Carl Edwards who was slowing to a stop in front of the flagstand.  Kyle was called post race to the NASCAR TRAILER. No word on possible penalties.

NOTES ABOUT BRISTOL2:

  • I must admit – the geek in me liked the Phoenix Foundation logo on the hood of Kvapil’s car.
  • It was officially announced that Casey Mears will take over the 07 of Clint Bowyer and Bowyer will take the number 33 car. It was stated during the broadcast that Gil Martin will NOT go with Clint Bowyer but stay with the 07 of Mears.

Next week is the Pepsi 500- racing under the California Sunset.

Yep that’s right…its LOLNASCAR!! I perused this site all night last night and it cracked me up!

When I bought the HHR it came with 3 free months of XM radio. I decided to keep it for a year to see how I like and I honestly haven’t decided yet whether or not to keep it yet…I go back and forth. Mostly it will depend on the merger with Sirius and whether or not I will get to add Sirius 128 to my XM package.

However- one thing that I am TOTALLY digging on XM right now is station xm51: Mandatory Metallica.  Yep you guessed…all Metallica all the time.  They have been playing all kinds of Metallica, old stuff, new stuff (off the NEW album), live stuff, outtakes, interviews with the band and interviews with other bands on the influence of Metallica on their music. I can say this about it: I am normally a station hopper and hop between 3-5 stations ranging from country to 80′s pop to punk to sports radio (Dialed In with Claire B) and everything inbetween (I know I am an odd bird musically).  Since turning on Mandatory Metallica (They go through bands…awhile back it was Led Zep) I have yet to change the station.

As I have mentioned here and there on this blog I am a big music lover. I listen to nearly anything (still haven’t gotten into jazz or blues too much yet).  When I was young I was exposed to mostly country- with some rock influences. By mid to late grammar school I took to 80′s pop with a special infinity to “new wave.” That lasted through grammar school and in junior high I discovered rock…glam metal to be exact. I was mostly more about the more “bubblegum” rock…big hair…lotsa makeup- you know what I am talking about. My favorite bands at the time were Poison, Cinderella, and Guns N Roses.

Then one day the son of a friend of my dad’s came over to borrow some tool.  I remember this like it was yesterday. He was borrowing something from my dad to work on his car (he had a beige Eagle Wagon).  I had had a crush on him…boy did I. He was three years older than me and didn’t even know I was alive.  I sat outside on the brick planter while my dad helped him load the tool or tools into his car they were talking and he was telling my dad about a great concert he went to …a band called Metallica.  He wore a whilte “And Justice For ALL…” tour shirt.  The next time I was at the mall I bought that album because I wanted him to know I liked Metallica too…so yeah I probably picked up my Metallica on false pretenses- but I found that I immediately identified with the band and ended up picking up their other albums.  I found their music comforting during a time in my life where I was going through a strange period – I was rebellious, hormonal,  and I dunno – my mom says every girl goes through a “stage” at this age…but I went from loving school to hating school (I was bullied a bit too so that didn’t help matters). Then the school I went to saw that I was testing in the 98th and 99th percentile on standardized tests for my grade level and  decided to change me over to the Gifted program midstream and it upset my routine (what you need to know is that all the kids in the gifted program already knew each other from grammar school because the gifted kids in grammar school had big get together and stuff-. and…well lets just say I got sent to the school psychologist (and that ended up pissing me off even more). Anyway I found Metallica to be a comfort at a time when I didn’t really have one.

When I wasn’t much older- I wrote down a list of bands I wanted to see live before I die. There were lots of bands…mostly rock ones: Poison, Cinderella, Ozzy, Kiss, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Tim McGraw, and several others got crossed off. There are only two left on that list. Metallica is one of them. I don’t know if I will ever get to see them. They don’t tour as hard as they once did (and who can blame them- they have families now) and I don’t really have anyone to go with- especially not that my brother is a father himself…and BFM drew the line in the sand at Metallica…and I can’t blame her- they aren’t everyone’s cup of tea.
