I know several people who ride motorcycles. It’s popular here because our local race track, LAGUNA SECA holds several major bike races, plus a neighboring town hosts a 4th of July bike rally.  During these peak times our local roads and highways are inundated with motorcycles of every type and riders of every skill level. I just wanted to alert you to two fabulous opportunities you have to interact with NASCAR drivers next week ONLINE!

First one is on July 10th on Facebook. Fans have the chance to interact with NASCAR legend Richard Petty and his driver Aric Almirola.  Aric will host a Facebook chat with King Richard Petty live on Wednesday July 10th at 3:00 PM (EDT) on the STP Facebook page.

And STOP THE PRESSES- Tony Stewart (our favorite driver and beloved twitter-aphobe that we all know and love) will be doing a TWITTER CHAT!  From what I can tell it looks like he will be taking over the Indianapolis MotorSpeedway twitter account (@IMS) at some point on July 11th. There wasn’t a time listed- but you can start asking questions to him now using #SuperWeekend.

Qualified: 25th

Finished: 20th

Race Winner: Matt Kenseth

Points After Kentucky: 16th.  Sigh. 22 points out of 10th, and 153 out of first- another tumble.

My Mood After Kentucky: Not good.

Unfortunately I really don’t have much to say…so here are some pictures from the race that I dug up surfing the web: (more…)

**THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED!! THANK YOU FOR ENTERING!!!**

This contest is brought you to by the GoBowling.Com/Pocono Raceway Partnership!

When the opportunity to give one of my readers a GoBowling.com 400/Pocono Raceway prize pack came across my desk I admit I jumped at the offer! Who doesn’t love free stuff? (more…)

It’s funny to me how sometimes I start a post planning on it going in one direction and then something happens and it ends up going in a totally different direction to me. That happened with this post. AMY

It all started with a fun fact.  Yesterday (today is 6-12-13) I was checking my calendar that I have in my office at the day job when I noticed this little tidbit at the bottom- which is kind of funny since the tidbit is about June 11th and it just happened to be June 11th:

June 11th, 2006, Tony received his 100th career top-five by placing third in the Pocono 500.

Per my Tony Stewart Calendar “June 11th, 2006, Tony received his 100th career top-five by placing third in the Pocono 500.” (photo credit: Amy Marbach via Instagram)

I posted the picture above on my instagram (click the picture to see it on Instagram.com) with the following caption: A #TonyStewart fun fact of the day… I wonder how many Top Five Finishes he has now… Anyone know? (more…)

So the winning Party In The Poconos 400 pace car design was the one I liked best:

YEY. Now if only they’d let me have it when they are done…I kid I kid (kinda).

On a more serious note- I want to talk about paint schemes for a minute.  First off…Tony is running a special Code 3 Associates Paint/Oklahoma paint scheme this weekend:

Code 3 Associates have been partnered with Stewart-Haas Racing since last year. Honestly I wasn’t even too sure what Code 3 Associates were except that they worked with animals until the Nabisco NASCAR online chat with Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman last week (check out the link to the video of the chat- but be prepared to park your butt for awhile because it’s a long one- over an hour- but it’s well well worth it!) where Ryan explained some of what Code 3 Associates do. It’s awesome and they were on their way to Oklahoma the day after the tornadoes to take care of pets when their owners can’t after a disaster and reunite them with their families when possible! What a great organization – and I can see why they partner with Stewart-Haas Racing because between Tony and Ryan I can’t think of two more pro-animal, pro-pet drivers!

But what I really want to talk about were Tony’s Bass Pro Paint Schemes for both the All-Star Race and the Coca-Cola 600.

So here is the 14 All-Star Paint Scheme…The car is mostly black on top with the orange at the bottom. It’s a nice looking paint scheme by it’s self and I know from that Nabisco Chat up there that Tony likes black paint schemes (there is also a turkey on the back quarter panels for the National Wild Turkey Foundation but you can’t really see it from this view):

Point is I LOVED this paint scheme. LOVED it. Except for one huge glaring problem.  Jamie McMurray’s car was also running a Bass Pro Shops/National Wild Turkey Foundation paint scheme and looked far too similar:

I wasn’t at the race- so I don’t know what it was like watching the race in person- but on TV it was really hard to tell the difference between Tony and Jamie’s cars. In the picture above it’s easier to tell them apart then it was on TV because the cars aren’t moving and are framed together where you can see the two biggest differences- the roof number color and that Tony’s car had more of an orange splitter and side skirt. My thought is they should use the black paint scheme as Tony’s normal Bass Pro Shops paint scheme (sans the turkey of course) and take his usual Bass Pro Paint scheme and slap the turkey on the back and use that one whenever Tony and Jamie are BOTH going to run Bass Pro Paint schemes. It would make it easier for us home views to tell them apart (and no I wasn’t watching on a small TV so that was not the issue).  Just a thought there…because I kind of like the more black/less orange paint scheme. My dad would tell you to go all orange because it would be easier to see because there are too many black race cars.I guess it might be about personal preference.

Which do you prefer?

This is one of my reminder posts about the Walmart Fan-Driven 400 – which is now called THE PARTY IN THE POCONOS 400 (yey Shawn McMillan for winning naming rights)!  So the latest round of voting is for the official consession for the race. It’s already been narrowed down to three flavors of Pierogis for you:

Right now the one in the lead is the Loaded Baked Potato Pierogi- and when I say lead- it’s pretty commanding.  Currently in second place is Hot Honey Buffalo Wing Pierogi with last going to the Sweet Cinnamon Sugar Pierogi.  There is still time left to make a difference though! Start voting now on the Walmart Fan Driven 400 facebook page.  You have until May 7th- so keep voting!!

Also if you are going to be going to the Party in the Poconos 400 did you know that you can get tickets for as low as $25?  They are available directly from Pocono Raceway.  Also if you plan on going keep your eyes open for NASCAR Fan Events being held at the Walmarts in the Long Pond area- there will be driver appearances, racing simulators, show cars, other goodies and lots of FUN!

Not going to the Party in the Poconos? Don’t worry- Walmart is still offering FAMILY TRACK PACKS (4 tickets, 4 hot dogs, 4 drinks for only $99) at a LOT of different tracks- so many I can’t list them all here but you can find the list over at the Walmart NASCAR page!

Starting May 8th the final round of voting will start- this time on the Party Pace Car! Can’t WAIT!
