    Answers and more

Here are the answers to yesterday’s post:

    1. Steady, as She Goes by The Raconteurs
    2. Push it by Salt N Pepa
    3. Word up by Cameo
    4. Low Budget by The Kinks

I was watching the British tv show, “As Time Goes By“, a couple days ago when one of the characters, Jean, mentioned a cheese & pickle sandwich. Immediately I had a craving! I’d tried one of these when I went to visit friends in the English countryside in 2003…DELISH!

    cheese and pickle sandwich
    “pickle”……cheese…..pickle & cheese!

Branston Pickle … is made from a variety of diced vegetables, including rutabaga, onions, cauliflower and gherkins pickled in a thick brown sauce made from vinegar, tomato, apple and dates with spices such as mustard, coriander, garlic, cinnamon, pepper, cloves, nutmeg and cayenne pepper. It’s sweet and spicy with a chutney-like consistency.

It is commonly served as part of a ploughman’s lunch, a common menu item in British pubs. It is also frequently combined with cheddar cheese in sandwiches, and most sandwich shops in the UK offer "cheese and pickle" as an option.

Janet again…on the way to work, I got to listen to these four songs…can you tell me what they are?

By the way, all inspiration to Jay from MLCotW!

    1. Find yourself a girl and settle down / Live a simple life in a quiet town
    2. This dance ain’t for everybody / Only the sexy people / So all you fly mothers, get on out there and dance
    3. If there’s music we can use it / We need to dance. We don’t have that time / For psychological romance
    4. Times are hard but well all survive / I just got to learn to economize

    Music to my ears

Hi! I’m Janet and I’m here to entertain you while Amy’s on vacation. Had a bit of a hard time getting in…password issues…but it’s all worked out, thanks to Billy Rhythm!

Anyway, on with the post…since Amy likes music, I thought I’d talk about that for a bit. Driving in to work yesterday morning, I decided to plug in my iPod. Hadn’t done that in awhile…and this is what I heard on shuffle mode:

    Water Song by Hot Tuna
    Dancing Days by Led Zeppelin
The Cowboy Song by Thin Lizzy
    One Week by BNL

I love my short commute and that my iPod plays things it knows I want to hear. I SWEAR it’s sentient!

On the way home, it was good too:

    Whole Lotta Rosie by AC/DC
One on One by Hall and Oates
    Kashmir by Led Zeppelin

And…yesterday I bought tickets to go see Robert Plant [on my regular blog, TWO people didn't know who he was...shocking!] and Allison Krause. I’m not much for country…but…Robert Plant!!! Woohoo!!!

    MI-5: Jim’s Edition

    1. What is your favorite spring flower? (name many if you have many)

I love the wild lupin in early spring the most. Some years they are absolutley gorgeous and abundant. Other years, while still gorgeous they are far and few between. This is year is a far and few between year.

I also like the California Poppy because they are so bright.

    2. We all seem to have those little areas or things of our life that get neglected. Maybe it is a plant or something that needs cleaning or even some movies you keep meaning to watch. Tell us something in your life that gets neglected using the examples as a guide.

My biggest thing is writing. (I can here you all saying what do you mean? You write a lot on your blog) I always have this incredible urge to write- whether it be a blog entry or a fictional story. In my mind…I am constantly composing stuff. If I would just write it all down. Which I never EVER do. Bad Amy. No biscuit.

Also lately I seem to have no interest in watching movies. I really want to watch the Dark Crystal one more time before I give it back to my brother. And someone loaned me a very drool-worthy music dvd I want to watch…

And then there is the reading. I have always LOVED to read…but lately haven’t been motivated to do it so my TO READ pile has been growing and growing and growing.

    3. What is your favorite comfort food(s)?

Well it usually depends on my mood. Don’t laugh but a big comfort food to me is Macaroni and Cheese (Golden Grain or Kraft).

    4. Do you have any heartfelt beliefs and how strongly do you hold to them?

I have strong beliefs in a lot of areas…politically and spiritually.

    5. Tell us something you do every week that you hate to do?

My biggest hates? Laundry and cleaning the bathroom.

iPod Chronicles III: Headphone Dilemma solved!

Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions for all the suggestions on headphones for my iPod…There were lots of great suggestions to ponder and ponder I did….and the winner?

I went with BillyRhythm’s suggestion of the KOSS PRO4AAT’s…and should have them in my hot little hands tomorrow hopefully. I can’t wait!!!

    iPod Chronicles II: Headphone Dilemma

I still love my iPod. However…I hate the little earbud headphones that come with it. I want a nice pair of headphones. I can’t afford the Bose ones right now…considering that they cost the same amount as my iPod cost. I am looking for over the ear type of headphones…does anyone have any suggestions for some GOOD headphones at a not so astronomical price so when I want to enjoy my music in private I don’t have those stupid little earbuds in.

The iPod Chronicles: Black Betty in Action

“An iPod? What is that some sort of space capsule or something?” Earl Hickey, My Name is Earl

When Earl Hickey said that on last night’s episode, oh how I laughed…and then remembered that I wanted to post about mmore about my iPod (Black Betty). I have always been fairly up on my technology…I have a laptop, a desktop, a cell phone…but I could not for the life of me figure out why I would need or want an iPod. I viewed them as overly expensive walkmans…so I resisted for a long time. Then everyone at work started showing up with iPods…so much so that it was common to walk past a cubicle and see coworkers tethered to their iPods with the white umbilical cord headphones…then my cubiclemate got one…and for six months…all I heard about was how I needed an iPod…that iPods were great…even her mom had an iPod…so I eventually caved and bought an iPod. I had decided on a 20G iPod photo…so when I finally decided I wanted one…I logged onto apple.com only to find out that they no longer offered iPod photo…but had the new iPod video…so…I ordered up Black Betty.

I now…can not imagine what I did without her! I have over 700 songs (because I am slow to rip my cd collection to her) on her…and find it amazing to have that many songs at my finger tips. She goes with me everywhere! Don’t Believe me? Well useually my iPod starts off its day in the stereo so that I can start my morning off right. Then she is either slipped into her special pocket in my purse or into my FM Transmitter/charger in the Rav and we are off for the day…if it is a work day she she is usually on my desk being updated. Of course then there is always the times at home when it is just attached to my pants or slipped into my pocket.

And the videos…they are incredible. I don’t have a lot of them yet- but the ones I do have are very impressive quality considering how tiny Black Betty is.

So do I love my iPod…the answer is a resounding YES.
    ___

PS. I plan to write more about iPod and the FM Transmitter…at a later date.
