Tony Qualified: 6th

Tony Finished: 19th

Points: 174 points, 30th in the championship standings

Quote Of The Race: “I really don’t know why no one would try to go with us there at the end. It baffled me. Our Bass Pro Shops/Tracker Boats Chevy was really good and I think we could’ve made it interesting if we got back to the front, but there’s only so much you can do by yourself at these races.” Tony Stewart, post-race team release. I honestly came into the race weekend thinking I wouldn’t even get to see a race- that at best I would be stuck at work on Monday morning trying to pay attention to my NASCAR while working using a combination of Twitter, SiriusXM Online and the NASCAR Mobile ap. As a matter of fact- I was so sure that the race wouldn’t even get started that I actually ran to the store- only to check my phone as I was walking into Target to find that the green had flown and the race was on. Figures, I told myself as I rushed around Target picking up this, that and the laundry detergent. At least I have SiriusXM with the NASCAR so I could listen to the race on the way home and not miss much, that is what I told myself anyway.  I didn’t have to worry about it though- I checked my phone again as I was leaving Target only to find that the race had been red flagged and I had plenty of time to get home. I get emails from Bass Pro Shops every so often- usually when they are having a sale. It’s because I shop there- I really do and have since way before they became a primary co-sponsor on Tony’s car. I have a father and a brother (and now three nephews) who are all outdoorsy and like to hunt and fish and camp so BPS is a great place for birthday presents and Christmas presents.

Anyway- I got this email here:

Duck Dynasty Email from Bass Pro Shops (Screen shot by me)

It’s advertising that they would have Duck Dynasty Season 2 on sale at BPS.com. Of course being the astute Tony Stewart fan that I am, I open every BPS email now hoping to see Tony looking at me  and definitely NOT the guys from Duck Dynasty.  I mean I have probably seen about three episodes of the show (and yes one of them was the Clint Bowyer episode- quite by accident). But for some reason the above email got me thinking…(and yes it is always dangerous when I start thinking).

What if one of the BPS sponsored races was a Duck Dynasty car?  That would be kind of cool I think?  I KNOW that judging by the things I see in my Facebook feed that there are a lot of Duck Dynasty fans out there and I know that BPS have done other special paint schemes so why not a Duck Dynasty one? They obviously sell DD stuff- as I have seen the t-shirts at the store in Vegas. So maybe next time I open an email from Bass Pro Shops I will instead see this graphic announcing the special paint scheme that I thought up:

Duck Dynasty and Tony Stewart- come on…it would be a cool paint scheme- admit it! (Photo created by Kevin M. Boots)

Come on admit it- you secretly think it’s a good idea too?

Am I the only one starting to get antsy for the beginning of the NASCAR season? I can’t be the only one who hears a revving engine and is like…MAN when does NASCAR start- NOT SOON ENOUGH that is when! But our “long off season” – which isn’t actually so long in the grand scheme of other sports – is coming to an end sooner than you can shake a broken transmission at (PSA: do NOT attempt to shake a broken transmission- those things look quite heavy).

The Sprint Unlimited is just a little more than week away (Feb 16th) – this race takes the place of what use to be called The Bud Shootout and then just The Shootout.  Then the Bud Duels (formally the Gatorade Duels) are Thursday Feb 21st (URG I have to work and they are in the middle of the dang day! WHY NASCAR WHY DO YOU TORTURE ME SO?). Then of course, the DAYTONA 500 is on the 24th. So it’s all happening and soon!  I CAN’T WAIT!  Sorry for the excessive caplock usage- but when I get excited I have no other way to let you know that to YELL it in my post.

Can you say (or tweet) #GoTonyGo? (more…)
