Tony Stewart Appearances for Race Week in Charlotte, NC

One of these days I am going to get to Charlotte for the week between the All-Star Race and the Coca-Cola 600. Just looking at the all the events listed on the Jayski Driver Appearances page for the week makes me green with envy. Not to mention that I have always wanted to visit the race shops. All of them. I have never been to one and I think it would be fascinating.

So if you find yourself lucky enough to be in the Charlotte area for the race week next week there are THREE different Tony Stewart appearances you can try to catch:

  1. May 24th- Tony Stewart will have a Bass Pro Store appearance from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Bass Pro Outdoor World in Concord, NC (store address is 8181 Concord Mills Blvd., Concord, NC). Check out their stores driver appearance page for more details and a list of the MANY drivers appearing that week at the store in Concord- including an appearance by teammate Ryan Newman the following evening).
  2. May 25th- Tony will be meeting fans and signing autographs at the Office Depot in Charlotte, NC starting at 4:00 pm. Wristbands are required and 600 of them will be given out at the store location starting at 8:00 am.   Fans with wristbands must be in line no later than 5:00 pm to get an autograph (one autograph per wristband).  The address for Office Depot in Charlotte is: 8658 J.W. Clay Blvd.
  3. May 28th- Tony is schedule to appear at the 17th Food Lion Speed Street Annual Festival in a question and answer session on the Coca-Cola stage.  The question and answer session starts at 7:15 and also features drivers Ryan Newman and Kurt Busch.

Race 11: Dover

Miles the Monster, mascot to the concrete mile track in Dover, made sure that Tony Stewart, his crew, and his stalwart fans were left disappointed, disheartened, and bewildered at the team’s luck after Sunday’s race (not to mention generally pissed off- but that’s a post for another day).  Saturday’s qualifying session was rained out and forced the race line up to go by the practice speeds , a new rule in 2011, for the first time this year.  Unfortunately this put the #14 Mobil 1/Office Depot Chevrolet  deep in the field- starting 27th. Race 10: Darlington

And I thought Richmond was a long race. Seriously- Darlington was LONG- and I have to say that I agree with Tony’s comment on Race Day- Darlington should be shortened. I understand the history behind Darlington and The Southern 500- but really? I can’t imagine what it was like for those on the east coast!

My favorite part of the Mother’s Day weekend race is ALWAYS the command to start engines because it is given by a bunch of the driver’s moms! I LOVE that part.

The Office Depot Official Small Business of NASCAR Contest Has Started

Attention Small Business owners: The Office Depot Official Small Business of NASCAR contest has started! Enter now to become branded the Official Office Depot Small Business Of NASCAR. It runs now through May 28th!

Race 9: Richmond with Bonus Fox Video

Instead of complain about the run Tony had- I thought I would focus on the end result. He may have had an ill-handling car and he may have started back in 31st- but he finished ninth- I will take a top ten finish any day! Tony finished 9th and is now 10th in Sprint Cup Standings.

The Fox pre-race show featured a Darrel Waltrip interview with Tony and promised more of the interview online at the FoxSport’s NASCAR page. Well I found that little tidbit for you and embedded it here so you don’t have to worry about missing the rest of the interview with DW:

I think they left some of the best parts of the interview for the online portion!

Notes about Richmond:

  • I LOVE the looks of the Mobil 1 paint scheme…especially the firesuit…but I have to say that it’s hard for me to find that car on the track! It’s much easier for me to find that Office Depot red machine!
  • I think Fox actually did a decent job covering what was going on with this race. I didn’t feel like things were happening during commercials…and when things did happen they seemed to come right out of commercial break to show us.
  • I know Misty agrees with me- but that race was one that seemed a bit too long. What do you think?
  • I kind of wanted to see Ryan Newman and Juan Pablo Montoya go nose to nose a little bit after the race…after all isn’t that what “have at it boys” is all about?

Tony Stewart Heads To Quantico

I have probably been watching a little too much Criminal Minds because I automatically think of that show when I hear Quantico.  But this has NOTHING to do with television. As my readers know though- if it has to do with a Tony Stewart appearance I will write about it. This appearance might be private however I love that it supports our military!

Tony Stewart will be meeting with Wounded Warriors and then hold a private meet and greet for service members at Barnett Field as part of Quantico’s Third Annual ServMart Customer Appreciation Day. Marine Corps Base Quantico’s mission is to optimize readiness by providing operation and training support, infrastructure and community services.

“It is an honor for me to visit Marine Corps Base Quantico and have the opportunity to meet some of the brave men and women who serve our country,” said Stewart, who will compete in this weekend’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at nearby Richmond International Raceway. “I’m incredibly grateful for the sacrifices service members and their families make every day. Those sacrifices make it possible for someone like me to have the freedom to do what I love and for NASCAR fans to enjoy being at the race track. To be able to say thank you in person means a lot to me.”

The Office Depot show car will also be there.  Office Depot is one of the sponsors of the ServMart Customer Appreciation Day and values their relationship with the military:

“Office Depot is very proud of our strong relationship with the General Services Administration and the US Marine Corps,” said Greg Abrahms, Director of Military Stores for Office Depot. “It is a privilege to be able to have a presence on base at Quantico and to help support the men and women stationed there by providing the products and services they need to successfully perform their mission.”

Another reason for me to love Office Depot- like I needed one.
