Tony Stewart will be headlining a “Back-To-School” celebration on Wednesday July 6th at the Office Depot located in Florence Kentucky (6825 Burlington Pike, Florence, KY 41042). He will be on hand to help donate 3,000 backpacks to representatives from local schools and non-profit organizations as part of the Office Depot Foundation’s National Backpack Program. You probably remember Tony helped donate backpacks last summer and fall as part of the program.

After the backpack presentation- there will be an autograph signing for the public at 4:45 pm (following the backpack donation). To get an autograph from Tony you will need to obtain a wristband. Wristbands will be available starting at 8:00 am local time at the store. There will be one wristband per person, one autograph per wristband. People with wristbands MUST be in line no later than 5:15pm to receive their autograph.

As I mentioned yesterday these events are FUN- if you are in the area be sure to stop by.

(As a total aside: In the picture above Tony is autographing one of the Tony Stewart Photobooks by Jostens.  They are a wee bit pricy…but I think they are totally worth it! I have one- the best part is they are customizable…I customized mine with the first interview we did with Tony- so I always have a nice keepsake of it.   They also have some of the other drivers AND they have ones for each race that they release so if you go to a specific race and want a nice memento from the race- you might want to consider it- Kudos to Jamie for pointing out the race books from them as well).

Ok- yes I know that is kind of a lame title but he did cut a ribbon see:

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – NASCAR® star Tony Stewart, driver of the No. 14 Office Depot/Mobil 1 Chevrolet Impala in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series™ (right), participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony during the grand-opening event of a brand-new Office Depot store in Winter Haven, Fl., on June 29. Stewart, shown here with Bob Gernert (left), the Executive Director of the Greater Winter Haven Chamber of Commerce, and Teresa Hill (center), Office Depot Store Manager, also assisted the Office Depot Foundation with presenting donations to local non-profits before signing autographs for 600 fans (Photo Credit: Foster Photography).

I would have so been there- how fun would that have been? Seriously if you can ever attend one of Tony’s Office Depot events I highly suggest going- they are ALWAYS fun. And I will be announcing another one tomorrow morning so keep your eyes peeled.

On a side note: I have always wanted to cut a ribbon on something exciting like a building or a bridge or something. Not just any ole ribbon but a grand opening ribbon. Mostly because of the big scissors you get to use. No chance on losing those suckers (I am always losing scissors).

Forgive me Tony Stewart Fans for not posting this sooner but I am still playing catch up from being gone since last Wednesday.  Tony Stewart will be doing an Office Depot grand opening and autograph session TOMORROW June 29th 2011 at the new Office Depot located at 800 Cypress Gardens Blvd Winter Haven, Florida.

Tony will be on hand for the ribbon cutting ceremony and will sign autographs afterwards for 600 fans.  The ceremony begins at 3:30pm local time.

To get an autograph you MUST have a wristband. There is one wristband per person, one autograph per wristband.  Wristbands will be distributed at the location starting at 8:00 am local time.

Hey Michigan Stewart fans! Great news! Tony is going to be doing an autograph appearance at The Office Depot in Canton, Michigan on June 16th!

Here are the details: Tony will be signing autographs to 600 fans at the Office Depot Store located at 45580 Michigan Avenue (in the Premiere Shopping Center) in Canton, MI (zip is 48188) starting at 4:00 pm local time. You must have a wristband. Wristbands will be given out at the Office Depot location starting at 8:00 am local time. One wristband per person and  one autograph per wristband.

There will also be a racing simulator on site and the Office Depot show car.

While there fans will be able to participate in the new program from the NASCAR FOUNDATION called NASCAR UNITES. Fans will have the opportunity to purchase a $5.00 NASCAR UNITES wristband.  The proceeds from the purchase of the NASCAR UNITES wristbands will go to a combined effort between the NASCAR FOUNDATION and the OFFICE DEPOT FOUNDATION for programs like the one that helped Stewart and the Office Depot Foundation donate 300,000 backpacks full of school supplies last back-to-school season for children in need.

Fans not in Michigan can still purchase a NASCAR UNITES wristband at their local Office Depot location as the store will carry the wristbands in stores nationwide as part of their partnership.

One of these days I am going to get to Charlotte for the week between the All-Star Race and the Coca-Cola 600. Just looking at the all the events listed on the Jayski Driver Appearances page for the week makes me green with envy. Not to mention that I have always wanted to visit the race shops. All of them. I have never been to one and I think it would be fascinating.

So if you find yourself lucky enough to be in the Charlotte area for the race week next week there are THREE different Tony Stewart appearances you can try to catch:

  1. May 24th- Tony Stewart will have a Bass Pro Store appearance from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Bass Pro Outdoor World in Concord, NC (store address is 8181 Concord Mills Blvd., Concord, NC). Check out their stores driver appearance page for more details and a list of the MANY drivers appearing that week at the store in Concord- including an appearance by teammate Ryan Newman the following evening).
  2. May 25th- Tony will be meeting fans and signing autographs at the Office Depot in Charlotte, NC starting at 4:00 pm. Wristbands are required and 600 of them will be given out at the store location starting at 8:00 am.   Fans with wristbands must be in line no later than 5:00 pm to get an autograph (one autograph per wristband).  The address for Office Depot in Charlotte is: 8658 J.W. Clay Blvd.
  3. May 28th- Tony is schedule to appear at the 17th Food Lion Speed Street Annual Festival in a question and answer session on the Coca-Cola stage.  The question and answer session starts at 7:15 and also features drivers Ryan Newman and Kurt Busch.

Well I am heading off to Las Vegas today (Wednesday)- so posting here might be a little light until I get back. If you are wondering what I am up to  you can follow me on twitter.

One of the reasons I LOVE the race at Vegas (besides the fact that it was my first NASCAR race and my first oval race) is because that there seems to be a lot of driver appearances there.  A lot of time getting an autograph from your favorite driver isn’t that hard- as long as you are willing to do some sleuthing and stand in lines.

I have found if you take your favorite driver - we will take Tony Stewart for instance and pay attention to things like their website (TonyStewart.com), their team website (StewartHaasRacing.com), any team social media (StewartHaasRcng on Twitter, StewartHaas Facebook, Tony Stewart Facebook) , major sponsor websites (officedepotracing.com, mobil1racing.com and social media (officedepot on Twitter, Mobil1Racing on Facebook)…you can usually find out if your driver is doing an event near you. There are other places on the web to look – one of my favorite sources is Jayski.  For the Vegas weekend appearances I also found this great guide of driver appearances over on SB NATION. Also check your favorite drivers merchandise trailer at the track…if they are going to do an event at their trailer there is usually a sign posted at the trailer. Track websites will sometimes have listing of fan events that are local to that particular track.

Taking Tony Stewart as my example again…he is actually a very busy man in Las Vegas this week. He will be doing an Office Depot appearance Thursday starting at 12:30 at the Office Depot in North Las Vegas at 1435 West Craig Road (this is probably your best bet at getting an autograph from him and I have to say that these events are usually GREAT fun- I reccomend them if you have the time. Wristbands will be given out starting at 8:00 am local time Thursday), He is holding a poker tournament to benefit the Tony Stewart Foundation at the MGM Grand on Friday in the Poker room at 7:00 pm and doing a Fan Q&A at the MGM Grand (in the lobby) on Saturday at 6:00 pm.  Plus as we all know from the pre-race show that at some point Tony will be driving a cab around Las Vegas…which I hope that I can see that video because that is bound to be hilarious.   So you might get lucky and end up with Tony as your cabbie.

You just have to know where to look. If all else fails find a fan decked out in your driver’s gear and ask them if they have heard of any appearances- you never know. You might make a new friend and get your driver’s autograph.

Of course just don’t shoplift near the track - or Morgan Shepherd may run you down and sit on you until the cops come for you. (I HAD to work this in somehow because I think this is AWESOME)!

Okay…the 2011 NASCAR season is ALMOST here. We are definitely on the downhill side of the off-season. I honestly don’t know how football and baseball and all those other kinds of sports fans deal with longer off seasons that we NASCAR fans have.

We have some changes to deal with in points and the chase.  Then of course there is the new fuel and the new nose of the car.  (I will say this- I LOVE the look of the new nose!) All of these go along with the usual shifting of drivers to different teams,  sponsors and numbers  changing- which always takes me about four races or so before I get them all programmed into my head.  But what are we without change right?

Of course I am hoping this will be the best season yet for Stewart-Haas (and for Tony). Let’s go get that third championship for Tony! YEY!

That being said I have some Tony Stewart Autograph appearances to share with you if you are going to Daytona for Speedweeks, if you are going to the Las Vegas Race, or live within driving distance of Greenwood Indiana:

Just to remind you that the Tony Stewart Foundation is still doing Checkered Flag Fridays – where the first Friday of every month the foundation lists several ebay auctions with autographed items. Some items are unique items- its a fun way to support both Tony and his foundation!  If anyone is looking for a belated birthday present for yours truly look no farther than this particular Checkered Flag Friday auction.  I kid I kid…kinda.

Also if you tweet…I hope you will join me this season in the return of the #goTONYgo hashtags to show support for Tony and the 14 team!!
