If you have visited the Tony Stewart Foundation website lately- you may have noticed a familiar face:

Me As A TSF Lap Leader Ambassador

Me As A TSF Lap Leader Ambassador

Yep that is me. If you click the READ MORE OF AMY’S STORY- the story expands and you can learn more about me and why I am a Tony Stewart Foundation Lap Leader.  For those who aren’t familiar with the Tony Stewart Foundation- it was created by Tony as a “vehicle” to give back to those organizations that support causes that support his three passions: seriously or chronically ill children, endangered animals, and injured racers.  So a TSF Lap Leader is someone who donates to the Tony Stewart Foundation monthly automatic donation to the  Tony Stewart Foundation of at least $14.00 a month.  As a than you for your donation- you get goodies sent to you once a quarter- and let me tell you some of the thank you goodies are awesome- my favorite one was a small canvas artwork created children and animals from the very organizations that the foundation helps every year.

You can even specify which arm of the foundation you want your funds to support! You can choose between Children’s Health, Animal Welfare, Driver Health or (the one I chose) Where It’s Most Needed.  Your donations go to help the foundation fund grants to worthy organizations! You can keep up with the TSF Foundation on Facebook to find out more about specific organizations they donate to.

If a monthly donation is not something you can manage- there are many other ways you can help. Of course they gladly accept one time donations (I started out donating once around around Tony’s birthday).  And there is the Amazon Smile program where shop amazon and can set The Tony Stewart Foundation as your charity of choice and they will get a small percentage (0.5%) donated to them off your eligible amazon purchases. It is no extra money to you- it’s donated by amazon on your behalf.  It’s easy to do- and it’s free to you.

they also have merchandise you can purchase (like the Racer14 plates) that help!

The Tony Stewart Foundation is easy for me to stand behind as a way to support my driver and support great causes at the same time especially since, like Tony, I too am passionate about both kids and animals. It’s easier to me to give to TSF then to check out multiple charities to donate to. Oh and did I mention that the donations are tax deductible? It truly is win-win for me because I support great organizations and my favorite driver at the same time.

In this week’s installation of the TQMS, we have a video of Tony Stewart talking about his first Daytona 500 as a driver: (more…)

Tony Qualified: 22nd in a random draw

Tony Finished: 13th, 7 laps down

Ahh, is it not great to have our NASCAR back? It is for me. I didn’t realize how much I missed it even until I was sitting in my kitchen trying to figure out if the date of the Unlimited was the same day and time of my nephew’s 5th birthday party (luckily indeed they weren’t even on the same day). YEY – Speedweeks are officially (and finally) here and so is the first TQMS (The Quotable Mr. Stewart) of the season:

“You look at marquee events around the world, and not only in NASCAR but in all of motorsports – the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the 24 Hours At Daytona, the Indy 500, the Knoxville Nationals – and to be a driver that can cross off one of those marquee events as a winner, that cements your legacy in motorsports. To be able to win the Daytona 500 is the ultimate dream of a racecar driver.”Tony Stewart, Team Release, February 11th, 2015

As I sit here watching the Superbowl, I really have only one thing on my mind. NASCAR. I really can’t help myself- it’s how I am wired. Sports with balls are really just in my periphery, it’s sports with wheels that catch my attention and of those NASCAR that really catches my attention and my heart.

I will be the first to admit that at the end of last season I was ready for it. Can you blame me? It’s been a shitty two years for my driver on every level, some we can likely barely even comprehend.  Of course that didn’t stop me from getting a tattoo supporting my driver during champions week in Las Vegas. But still- I was ready for it to be done.  And I honestly didn’t even miss it that much (obviously by my lack of posts here during the off-season lamenting about how long the off season seems).

I am not happy about the last two years of my life by any means. It’s given me more drive and desire to get back to the old form that our fans and our sponsors and everybody are use to seeing us in. So I am looking forward to it. This is probably the most prepared I’ve been in awhile for a season to start. — Tony Stewart, CMS Media Tour, 1-27-15

Hi Santa! It’s me, Amy, your friendly neighborhood diehard Tony Stewart fan. It’s been a long time since I have written you a letter. A really, really long time, but we won’t talk about that! You already know if I have been naughty or nice so I won’t sit here and try to bargain with you regarding that fact. Nor will I wax poetically about whether or not you you exist- clearly you do based on the sole number of presents my three nephews had under their tree last year.  I thought it couldn’t hurt things if I actually sent you my wish list this year.

Anyway Santa, here is a list of  what this Smoke fan wants for Christmas this year. Just to warn you Santa- some of these things are a bit in the future from Christmas- but if it happens I will just know that I was extra-specially good this year: (more…)

If you look up the word champion up on dictionary.com this is what the definition is:

dictionary.com definition of champion.

Do you see that very first definition there? A person who has defeated all opponents in a competition or series of competitions, so as to hold first place.  It’s makes sense right? After all if you look at probably the two most popular stick-and/or-ball sports in the United States that is what they use as a Champion.  What Super Bowl team does not have the BEST record for their division going into the big game. Same for the World Series- it’s a series of games between the two teams with the best records in their respective divisions. It’s what NASCAR use to have. (more…)

This TQMS entry is literally for the road because as you are reading this (on Friday) I am scuttling off through the desert to the last elimination race of the year. You know I couldn’t forgo going to Phoenix right?! It’s going to be a fun-filled but crazy quick trip and you can follow my adventures on twitter (BadGroove) and Misty’s too if you want (Fyrstorm24).  It will likely be quite the stressful race for Misty- our diehard Jeff Gordon fan and it’s the final elimination race.  I can’t remember the last time we went to a race JUST for the race and not for the whole weekend!

Anyway first installment of this double shot of TQMS is from back at Martinsville. I actually took a picture from the race that I found on the internet and tweaked it a bit because I am trying to teach myself photoshop. It might look familiar if you are a member of Tony Stewart Fans group on Facebook because I happened to use it as the header graphic (I am one of the admins so sometimes they let me do things like that):

Tony says it was for the fans

In case you can’t read the funky green text: Thanks, most of all, to our fans. They’ve been plowing a tough road for the last 18 months, and this top-five is for the fans more than anybody. — Tony Stewart, Post Race Martinsville 10-26-14

And for this week, a tweet from the man himself. It was in response to some of the responses to his tweet about Michael Waltrip being voted of #DWTS but I think it is good advice in general:

Tony Tweets Advice

Great advice from Tony- keep the hammer down and let it roll off!

And just because it’s my blog and I can do what I want to- here is an extra gratuitous Tony Stewart picture for you:
