Tony Stewart- Rush Truck Center

We’ve been doing business with Rush Truck Centers for years. It’s an established relationship that has a much higher profile thanks to Rush Truck Centers becoming a primary sponsor with our team. Rush Truck Centers keeps our trucks and transporters up and running, and you could argue those are the most important parts of our race team. Without them, our cars never get to the racetrack.” —Tony Stewart, Auto Club pre race team release

“I think just learning the way the car is going to respond every week with the rules in place and finding the combination that works the best. We’re basically starting from scratch. There are some things that you take away from what we did last year, but anytime you have significant rules changes like the ones we have this year, that’s the No. 1 obstacle – trying to figure out what our Bass Pro Shops/Mobil 1 Chevy likes and dislikes so it gives you a direction in which to work.” –Tony Stewart, Pre-Phoneix Team Release

“I can tell you that every time I get in my Bass Pro Shops/Mobil 1 Chevy, I’m doing it because I want to win, whether it’s the first race on the schedule or the last. Sometimes there are circumstances that prevent you from being able to do that, but I look at this weekend’s race no different than I do a race 20 weeks from now. We’re going out there to try to win, just like every other race.” — Tony Stewart, Pre-Atlanta Stewart-Haas Racing Team Release

In this week’s installation of the TQMS, we have a video of Tony Stewart talking about his first Daytona 500 as a driver: (more…)

YEY – Speedweeks are officially (and finally) here and so is the first TQMS (The Quotable Mr. Stewart) of the season:

“You look at marquee events around the world, and not only in NASCAR but in all of motorsports – the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the 24 Hours At Daytona, the Indy 500, the Knoxville Nationals – and to be a driver that can cross off one of those marquee events as a winner, that cements your legacy in motorsports. To be able to win the Daytona 500 is the ultimate dream of a racecar driver.”Tony Stewart, Team Release, February 11th, 2015

This TQMS entry is literally for the road because as you are reading this (on Friday) I am scuttling off through the desert to the last elimination race of the year. You know I couldn’t forgo going to Phoenix right?! It’s going to be a fun-filled but crazy quick trip and you can follow my adventures on twitter (BadGroove) and Misty’s too if you want (Fyrstorm24).  It will likely be quite the stressful race for Misty- our diehard Jeff Gordon fan and it’s the final elimination race.  I can’t remember the last time we went to a race JUST for the race and not for the whole weekend!

Anyway first installment of this double shot of TQMS is from back at Martinsville. I actually took a picture from the race that I found on the internet and tweaked it a bit because I am trying to teach myself photoshop. It might look familiar if you are a member of Tony Stewart Fans group on Facebook because I happened to use it as the header graphic (I am one of the admins so sometimes they let me do things like that):

Tony says it was for the fans

In case you can’t read the funky green text: Thanks, most of all, to our fans. They’ve been plowing a tough road for the last 18 months, and this top-five is for the fans more than anybody. — Tony Stewart, Post Race Martinsville 10-26-14

And for this week, a tweet from the man himself. It was in response to some of the responses to his tweet about Michael Waltrip being voted of #DWTS but I think it is good advice in general:

Tony Tweets Advice

Great advice from Tony- keep the hammer down and let it roll off!

And just because it’s my blog and I can do what I want to- here is an extra gratuitous Tony Stewart picture for you:

“I’ve taken the last couple weeks off out of respect for Kevin and his family, and also to cope with the accident in my own way. It’s given me the time to think about life and how easy it is to take it for granted. I miss my team, my teammates. I miss being back in the race car.  I think being back in the car this week with my racing family will help me get through this difficult time.”– Tony Stewart, Atlanta Media Presser, August 29th, 2014
