Tony’s not panicking yet:

“Especially with the new rules package this year, I don’t think anybody is in panic mode. We’re still learning these cars and going to tracks for the first time in the season. Six or eight weeks before Richmond, then you start panicking if you don’t have that win. I think it’s still too early to panic, at least for us.” Tony Stewart, Pocono Pre-race Team Release 2014

Side note…this is the first paragraph of the team release for Pocono that I pulled my quote from:

Brussels sprouts rarely make an appearance on anyone’s list of favorite foods. And why would they? They’re a leafy, green vegetable that, depending on how they’re prepared, can have a questionable texture and bitter taste. Yet, they’re packed with nutrients, including anticancer properties, earning them “it’s good for you” status from generations of moms.– Tony Stewart Pocono 400 pre-race team release

I don’t know what it says about me- but I like Brussels sprouts (and no I am not a mom).

Tony feels great after sprint car test

I promise that TQMS will NOT end up being a rehash of the man’s tweets…but there was nothing that stuck with me for quoting from the team release or any other media that I could pull up.

I actually posted the first tweet on my facebook page and said “I could see him grinning from here…” Apparently I was right.

“But in this series where we have races that are 400, 500 miles long, the guys with experience know when to push. They know when it matters. It’s like that every week because our races are so long. There are times you have to be patient and do the opposite of what you want to do. You let guys go because you know it’s the wrong part of the race to be fighting for a position. There’s nothing that replaces seat time, and guys that have experience at this level know how to put together an entire race, not just a segment.” Tony Stewart, The 2014 Kansas Race Preview Team Release

“It’s trial and error, but at the same time, it’s like pulling a pin on a grenade. You know through that process that if one guy makes a mistake, your car’s torn up. It’s just a delicate balance of how hard you go, how many things you try, and how much time you spend doing it.” Tony Stewart- pre-spring Talladega team release

Okay- the square pupils in this picture freak me out a tad...

“When things are tough, the pressure and the burden is more on you knowing that you’re responsible for everything versus just being the guy driving the car. It’s hard, but it’s also what makes it more gratifying when things go right, and that’s what we’re getting to enjoy right now.”Tony Stewart, Spring Richmond 2014 Pre-Race Release.

“As much as we know about the history of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, I think people underestimate how much we know about Darlington and the history of that track, and how hard it is to win races there. I guess that’s why a Sprint Cup win at Darlington is something that’s really important to me.” Tony Stewart- when asked if open-wheel drivers respect the history of Darlington in the SHR Pre-Race release.

“One thing about Martinsville is there is no lack of excitement. I don’t care how flawlessly your day goes, you’re going to bump into somebody at some point, even on a perfect day. You put 43 cars on this half-mile track and it’s always going to be exciting. You will never have a race there where you don’t have some sort of drama during the day. I think every driver will say they will have some drama at some point. When you have 43 drivers with 43 dramatic moments, that’s a lot of action going on.” — Tony Stewart, 2014 Martinsville Team Release
